Everyday professional: Wilfried Kahle

Wilfried Kahle: "A gentle generational change"

05.02.2024 — When Dussmann opened an emergency control center in Zeuthen, Brandenburg, in 1996, 40-year-old Wilfried Kahle began his career at Dussmann. At the time, the service company was one of the first providers to establish its own alarm receiving center (AES).

In the basement of the building, the trained telecommunications technician and his specially trained colleagues from the security service monitored and processed elevator emergency calls and reports from burglar and hold-up alarm systems as well as access control systems from all over Germany and many European countries according to customer requirements and, in the event of an alarm, Kahle initiated the necessary intervention measures within the emergency call and service control center. His line manager quickly recognized Wilfried Kahle's technical expertise and commitment and gave him responsibility for security technology.

In the course of digitalization, Wilfried Kahle's work in the emergency call and service control centre increasingly changed. In 2010, the decision was made to build an alarm receiving center (AES) according to the latest technical standards – Gardelegen in Saxony-Anhalt was the location of choice. Reinforced concrete ceilings, special windows, a fence system with anti-creep protection and impact protection ensure maximum protection for the control center.

Wilfried Kahle was involved in the project right from the start and organized the move in just two days during ongoing operations. Thanks to "Willi" – as his colleagues affectionately call Wilfried Kahle - the AES was up and running on time. The alarm receiving center now receives around 8.3 million messages. Wilfried Kahle made a significant contribution to the fact that response times today are between 30 seconds for robberies and 90 to 180 seconds for all other alarms. He also contributed to AES always being certified in accordance with the latest European standard DIN EN 50518 and VdS 3138. "This shows our customers that state-of-the-art technology is in use and that our alarm receiving center meets the highest security standards," says Wilfried Kahle.

In addition to his work at AES, Wilfried Kahle was also very active in the Bundesverband Sicherheitstechnik e.V. (BHE), the Bundesverband der Sicherheitswirtschaft e.V. (BDSW) and VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH.

What began in Zeuthen in 1996 is far from over in 2024: Wilfried Kahle is now 67 years old and could retire. But because his profession is his calling and he has accumulated a wealth of knowledge over almost three decades, he is gradually handing over his responsibilities to Ronny Gehrmann as part of a smooth generational change. Ronny Gehrmann has been with Dussmann since fall 2023 and has been responsible for operations since January 1. However, some important projects are still on Wilfried Kahle's agenda for 2024 - the IT infrastructure of AES is to be virtualized and that of the feedback center certified.

Without "Willi", Dussmann's Alarm Receiving Center (AES) would certainly not be such a leader in Germany. We wish Ronny Gehrmann every success for the future!
