Dussmann acquires automatic Klein and gains expertise in industrial process automation

International service firm Dussmann today acquired the operations of technical service provider automatic Klein GmbH, headquartered in Essen. The new addition expands Dussmann’s existing range of capabilities in technical plant and systems engineering to include plant and systems control and process automation. Going forward, Dussmann Technical Solutions will be pooling the new services together in a new business unit called Industrial Automation.

automatic Klein has extensive experience in project planning, construction, installation, and commissioning of switchgear to support the automation of industrial processes. It has automated over 2,500 industrial facilities worldwide in the course of its 58-year history. Customers include well-known players in the international industrial engineering segment and the automotive and process industries. The company’s proven team will continue to support these customers as previously.

Acquisition broadens range of capabilities in a crucial segment

“Bringing in the expertise of automatic Klein is a very important step for us, as it is expanding our range in a strategically important segment,” says Tino Weber, Managing Director of Dussmann Technical Solutions. “We will be able to offer automation expertise to our customers in-house instead of continuing to source it externally.”

We think the conditions are perfect for us to be able to do that at Dussmann as a family company,” says Tilo Klein, previously Managing Director of automatic Klein, who will hold the same title at Dussmann Industrial Automation in the future.

The team’s extensive know-how in process automation will complement the expertise of STS in electrical engineering, DKA and K.E.D. in cooling, refrigeration and air conditioning technology, and HEBO in elevator technology. In addition to the business with existing and future automation customers, Dussmann is also expanding on the range of services provided in-house in trades covered by the existing business units, so it will be able to manage processes even more efficiently going forward.

Rolf and Tilo Klein, previously joint heads of automatic Klein GmbH, will continue to lead Dussmann Industrial Automation. automatic Klein has 21 employees, all of whom are moving to Dussmann. Both parties agreed to keep the purchase price confidential.
