Jurie Engelbrecht from Dussmann Service Gulf

21.01.2021 — Jurie Engelbrecht is 64 years old. He has been working as a Facilities Manager at Dussmann Gulf since 2012 and manages a wide variety of buildings.

How does a regular workday look for you?

My day starts at 07:30. I carry out inspections of all premises on the project and advise senior supervisors, QHSE officers and team leaders where I feel that quality improvements can be made. I meet with clients and suppliers on a regular basis and prepare daily reports about our activities including before and after photos of every cleaning activity. I ensure that cleaning and disinfection procedures are followed and I meet tenants at Masdar offices to discuss their requests for additional cleaning.

In which buildings do you provide cleaning services?

We provide cleaning services in very different buildings below including, Car parks, roads and walkways, such as Masdar and City Park and high profile villas, where a lot of VIPs are accomodated.

What are the challenges that have faced during the Corona pandemic?

The challenges that we face are to ensure safe working conditions for Dussmann staff and to maintain a safe working environment for tenants through daily disinfection. It has meant that we have had to provide additional training on fogging of offices and residential areas, and proper disinfection procedures and on the correct use of PPE. We also had to organize COVID19 testing for staff without interrupting daily operations.

The Government of the UAE has taken strict steps to prevent the spread of the virus. They have closed the borders to a number of cities, allowing them to be crossed only with a negative COVID test result.  

What were the highlights of your time at Dussmann?

My most highlighted memories were meeting Mr. Lanfredi and other board members during the signing of the Landmark contract, and when I was congratulated on winning the Capital Plaza and Masdar City contracts. These achievements were only possible with the dedicated team working for these projects and the support of executive management like Mr. Mehiar. What I like about my job is the satisfaction and peace of mind it gives me, knowing that I have UAE Dussmann management as my role model.
