Family power on the early shift

For Asya Asenova, her journey into the workforce began in a familiar setting: at a client’s office where her parents already felt at home. When the now 19-year-old had to decide what to do after school, the idea of working together as a family quickly came up. “And so they brought me into the building cleaning team,” says Asya Asenova.

Up early together

The alarm clock rings at 3 a.m., and the workday starts at 5 a.m. – side by side with mom and dad. “I love cleaning, but doing it for a living felt a bit strange at first, because it’s a very large client site.”

Asya Asenova works for a large online retailer. The contract awarded to Dussmann covers an impressive cleaning area of over 52,000 square meters—comparable to a 2.5-kilometer stretch of a two-lane highway.  With around 35 employees working in three shifts every day to clean offices, restrooms, stairwells, and cafeterias.

But Asya Asenova initial uncertainty quickly disappeared: “Everyone in the team is really nice – I soon felt at home.” Her tasks are varied: she cleans the offices and supports her colleagues in other areas.

And recently, she has also taken on the responsible task of conducting inspections: ”Every Wednesday, I check to see if everything is in order. If something is wrong, I take a photo and let my colleagues know."

Meet Asya Asenova and her parents here — a glimpse into true teamwork

A piece of home at work

Asya Asenova enjoys working with her parents. Of course, there are sometimes points of friction: " My mom always pays very close attention to my work. But that also helps me learn. I already knew a few things before, but here I had to clean completely different things and learned how to do it.“

Trust, respect, responsibility, and fun are particularly important to her in her job. ”We all get along very well in the team, we trust each other. That makes me proud."

Us too, dear Asya Asenova!
